Officer Involved Shooting 2900 East Rowan Ave

Spokane Police Officers were involved in an Officer Involved Shooting incident this evening.  Two officers fired their service weapons striking the suspect. 

No officers or other civilians were injured during this incident. The incident is being investigated by the Spokane Investigative Regional Response (SIRR) Team.

Today November 28, 2017, just before 6:00PM 9-1-1 Dispatchers received the report of a Domestic Violence incident with a weapon where a suspect was reported to have fired rounds inside a residence in the 2900 block of E. Rowan Ave.  During the 9-1-1 call, the Dispatchers could hear shots being fired.  Upon arrival, Spokane Police Officers were unable to locate the suspect and began processing the scene.  Approximately an hour and a half later, a pair of Officers remained on scene in a patrol vehicle when the suspect returned on foot and started shooting at the Officers.  Both Officers returned fire striking the suspect. Officers rendered first aid to the suspect who was transported to the hospital.  The suspect died as a result of his injuries. Neither of the Officers were injured. The suspect was reported to be a multiple time convicted felon known to Law Enforcement.  The suspect’s gun was recovered at the scene.

The identity of the suspect will be released by the Spokane Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Officer Involved Protocol was enacted.  The SIRR Team is on-scene investigating the incident.  The SIRR Team is comprised of multiple agencies in eastern Washington, including the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the Spokane Valley Police Department, the Washington State Patrol, and the Spokane Police Department.

  • The Washington State Patrol is the case managing agency in this incident.  All future communications on this incident will be sent via the SIRR Team.
  • The Spokane Police Department will release the names of the officers involved in this incident.
  • Once the SIRR Team investigation is complete the case will be forwarded to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
