Spokane Police are investigating a fatality collision today involving a bicycle at Wellesley/Whitehouse.

On June 15, 2016 at about 1:00 pm, police received a report that a bicyclist had been hit by a truck on Wellesley between Washington and Whitehouse.  Police and Fire personnel responded within minutes; when they arrived, they found the cyclist (an adult female) was already deceased.  The driver of the truck stopped immediately.

The road was closed for about three hours while detectives investigated the collision.  The driver has cooperated with detectives; at this time it does not appear that the he was impaired. Initial information provided to police was that the cyclist was on the sidewalk and fell in front of the truck. Major Crimes detectives continue to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding this collision.

We will not be releasing any further victim information. The Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the victim after next of kin has been notified.
